UNIFORM DRESS CODE

SCHOOL UNIFORM GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

The primary purposes of a school uniform are to create a sense of cohesion among the student body and foster school pride. As Christian representatives of Saint Patrick Catholic School, uniforms must fit properly and modestly, for both boys and girls.

  • There are two school uniform options depending on the time of year. 1) The Regular school uniform is the official uniform, and it can be worn year-round although it is better suited to the colder months. The Regular school uniform is required for all Masses and special occasions, regardless of the time of year. Long pants, skirts, or jumpers must be worn to Mass; no shorts. 2) There is an optional warm weather uniform (called the fall/spring uniform) which can be worn during the warmer months. The switch-over between the uniforms is up to the discretion of the principal.
  • A separate P.E. uniform is required for all students in grades K-8.
  • All girls' and boys' uniform shirts and P.E. shirts must be tucked in.
  • Fad haircuts of any kind, including dyed hair, are NOT permitted. Bangs should be above the eyebrows or combed away from the face. Boy's hair is to be cut above the collar, eyebrows, and ears. (Hair length is subject to principal’s discretion.)
  • Make-up, nail polish, hair accessories, and jewelry policy:   Makeup and nail polish may not be worn to school. Girls are permitted to wear small post-type earrings. Only one earring per ear is allowed - no multiples. Earrings are never permitted for boys. Students may not wear bracelets and other jewelry; however, watches (no smart watches or watches with the ability to text) and religious medals are allowed for both boys and girls. Girls are permitted to wear only solid colored green, navy, red, or white hair accessories. As an alternative, plaid scrunchies and accessories can be purchased through Flynn and O'Hara.

ENFORCEMENT OF UNIFORM POLICY
A student found out of uniform will be given a verbal reminder and a note will be sent to the parent. If, after the third reminder, there is no action taken to correct the situation, the administration will make a phone call home requiring the student to be in uniform before returning to school.

DENIM DRESS DAYS
When students are permitted to dress out of uniform on a school day it will be called a Denim Dress Day. The dress code on Denim Dress Days is as follows:
• Denim Jeans (No holes, rips, tears; no denim leggings, or denim shorts)
• Sturdy shoes or sneakers (no sandals or open toe shoes)
• T-Shirts, polo shirts, turtlenecks, sweaters, and sweatshirts may be worn Shirts or other pieces of clothing featuring any type of a musical group or with a questionable message are absolutely forbidden. Articles of clothing featuring beer and alcohol products are forbidden.
