ATHLETICS

Sports is an important part of life at Saint Patrick School.  Our goal is to help develop our students as athletes, leaders and Children of God. They are a social outlet and an opportunity for building teamwork and character in a fun, competitive atmosphere.

With high school on the horizon, our athletic program aims to prepare our young men and women for a higher level of competition while also adding to their physical and spiritual well-being.

We offer both soccer and basketball for boys and girls. Boys soccer is played in the fall, basketball in the winter and girls soccer in the spring. We are members of the Virginia Catholic Athletic Conference (VCAC) and participate in both conference and out-of-conference games before finishing each season with a conference tournament.

Girls field hockey is fiercely competitive.  Their love of the game is equaled by their team spirit and comradery.  Games are played both locally and regionally.  Summer camps are available for aspiring players.

Coaches are examples to our students and instrumental in their formation. As such, they are expected to adhere to a Christ-centered, team-oriented approach win or lose. They will structure practices with relevant drills and instruction, keeping down-time to a minimum so athletes can remained focused and have fun.

Coaches are also expected to give feedback to their players and keep an open line of communication with parents regarding performance, playing time and expectations.

NFL coaching legend Vince Lombardi once said “Leaders aren’t born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else – through hard work.”

All we ask of these students is hard work. Hopefully through our athletic program, they’ll embrace this and incorporate it into their everyday lives because if they do, success both on earth and in Heaven will follow.

For the younger kids, the formation of Saint Patrick Soccer Teams through the
Orange Recreation Association exposes students to friendly competition and varying skills.

KNIGHTS CHEER TEAM

Cheerleading has become one of our popular activities. Our youngest and most adorable ‘Knights’ Cheer Squad recently brought home the 2019 Cheer Championship Trophy from the Cardinal Winter Blast – Arlington Diocese.
