The entire faculty at Saint Patrick School is certified to teach in the Commonwealth of Virginia and/or certified by the Virginia Catholic Education Association (VCEA). Our leadership and faculty are dedicated to continually advancing their education with advanced degrees and other workshops or collegiate coursework. DR. SALLY NICHOLSON - PRINCIPAL
Dr. Nicholson is a graduate of the University of Kansas, and holds degrees in Elementary Education, and Educational Policy and Leadership. She brings a wealth of experience as well as a deep love of our Catholic faith to St. Patrick School. Her experience includes work as an educational consultant, college professor, program director, and school administrator. Dr. Nicholson has worked in both private and public institutions, from K-12 schools to four-year colleges. She is thrilled to be able to call St. Patrick School and parish her new home.

MARTHA MASSAD - ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Mrs. Massad is the heart of the Saint Patrick School. As the Administrative Assistant she manages the school office, provides first aid to many of our students, and is an expert at multi-tasking. Over the years, Mrs. Massad has held various positions within the school. She is a Fredericksburg native and a graduate of the University of Mary Washington with a B.A. in Economics.

This is Mrs. Goonan’s 18th year as the Preschool Teacher at St. Patrick School. Mrs. Goonan has a degree from Germanna Community College in early childhood learning. She finds children of this age group very fascinating and learns so much just from observing them. Mrs. Wujick is a preschool aide. She earned her undergraduate degree from the College of William and Mary and her Master of Social Work from VCU. Her three children attended St. Patrick School from preschool through eighth grade, and Mrs. Wujick has been active in various aspects of school life. She is very excited to work with the preschool children and share her faith in Christ with them.
Mrs. Goriup is a preschool aide. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and a graduate degree in Elementary Education from George Mason University. She taught in Fairfax County Public Schools for 16 years. Her son is a Saint Patrick student along with her niece and nephews.
Ms. Virginia Storm is a Preschool Aide. Ms. Storm truly enjoys helping the preschoolers to learn. Her prior experience includes being the Secretarial Assistant at the office of Matthew T. Storm, D.D.S., and working at Hazelwild Farm as a Summer Camp Riding Assistant/Counselor.
LOWER SCHOOL - KINDERGARTEN
Carla Gonzalez has been the kindergarten teacher at Saint Patrick School since 2012. Before becoming a teacher, she received a degree in Design from the Art Institute of Philadelphia and had her own frame and art shop before becoming a stay at home mom for several years. Her passion for education, youth development, and the Catholic faith inspired her to pursue, and later receive, her dual degree in Elementary and Special Education from Holy Family University. Being a kindergarten teacher at Saint Patrick allows her to share her passions with those around her and to grow in her faith. In her free time, Carla enjoys painting, reading, being outdoors, and spending time with her husband and two boys.
LOWER SCHOOL - KINDERGARTEN
Mary Jane Gowarty
Mrs Gowarty joined our teaching team when her children started attending St. Patrick’s. Prior to that she was a school wide volunteer and was named Volunteer of the Year for her extensive contributions of time and energy. As teacher’s aide in Kindergarten, she has created many tools for the students and parents to help guide their educational success. She has been a Girl Scout Leader and also co-founded the Charitable Acts Club, where students worked on crafts projects that are blessed upon completion and given to others in need of special prayer.
LOWER SCHOOL - 1ST GRADE
Mrs. Cleary teaches first grade. This is her twenty-seventh year of teaching at Saint Patrick School. Mrs. Cleary has previously taught Preschool; Middle School Language Arts, Math, and Religion; and Spanish K-8. Mrs. Cleary has been married for 32 years and has 3 children, all of whom are St. Pat’s alumni. She is the testing coordinator of the school, co-sponsor of the National Junior Honor Society, co-director of the Middle School musicals, and has enjoyed creating the yearbook with Mrs. Eny for the last several years.
LOWER SCHOOL - 1ST GRADE
Mrs. Dort is the first grade aide for Saint Patrick School and this is her 17th year working at our school. She is co-sponsor of the National Junior Honor Society and an advisor with the Student Government. Prior to joining the First Grade classroom, Mrs. Dort worked in Saint Patrick School’s Preschool.
LOWER SCHOOL - 2ND GRADE
This is Mrs. Klinge’s third year teaching second grade at Saint Patrick School. Mrs. Klinge has previously taught Kindergarten at Saint Patrick School for 5 years and second grade for 4 years in Spotsylvania County. LOWER SCHOOL - 3RD GRADE
Mrs. Talsma has been teaching third grade at Saint Patrick School for 17 years. She is currently the PTO faculty representative for the school. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of South Dakota and a graduate degree in Elementary Education from the Mary Washington College for Graduate Studies.
LOWER SCHOOL - 4TH GRADE
Megan is proud to be a St. Patrick School Alumnus. She has been teaching at St. Patrick’s for 12 years. This is her 3rd year of teaching 4th grade after 9 years teaching middle school. LOWER SCHOOL - 5TH GRADE
Mrs. Fregoso is in her 8th year of teaching at St. Patrick. She taught second grade for five years and this is her third year teaching fifth grade. She and Mrs. Lane run the school’s newspaper club. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Old Dominion University.
LOWER & MIDDLE SCHOOL
Mr. Parker is serving as the 4th Grade Science teacher, leads the 7th & 8th Grade PE classes, and helps with Kindergarten PE. Covering all grade levels, Mr. Parker has been acting as a substitute teacher for Saint Patrick School for the past 2 years — a position he will continue to hold this year as well. Mr. Parker holds a B.S. Degree from Virginia Tech, Majoring in Animal Science with a Minor in Biology. In addition, he has an Applied Science Degree in Medical Technology from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College.
This is Mrs. Frey’s eighth year as the Spanish teacher to grades K-8. She also teaches 6th grade reading and religion. Mrs. Frey has a B.A. in Elementary Education and a minor in World Languages, and is endorsed in ESL. She has been teaching in the public schools and private schools for 14 years. This is Mrs. Lane’s eighth year teaching at St. Patrick School. Mrs. Lane is the 8th grade homeroom teacher, and also teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English and spelling, as well as Technology for Kindergarten through 8th grade. Mrs. Lane is also the webmaster and a PowerSchool administrator, and runs the Newspaper Club along with Mrs. Fregoso. Before teaching she had been the yearbook co-editor and a substitute teacher. Two of her daughters have graduated from St. Patrick and the youngest is in 8th grade. She holds a B.S. in Elementary Education from West Virginia University. Mrs. Lane’s Website,
Mrs. Stower is in her third year at St. Patrick. She is the 6th grade homeroom teacher, and also teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade science, 6th grade history, Math 7/6, as well as PE to 1st-6th. She holds a B.S. in Elementary and Kindergarten Education, with a concentration in Math and Science, from Penn State. Mrs. Stower’s Website
Mrs. Corvetti is the 7th grade homeroom teacher and this is her 2nd year at St. Patrick School. Mrs. Corvetti teaches reading to 7th and 8th grades, religion to 7th and 8th grades, Course 2 and Algebra 1. She holds a B.A. in Sociology and Elementary Education from Nazareth College of Rochester, NY, and a M.S. in Reading Education from Adelphi University, NY.
SPECIALS, EXTENDED DAY & FACILITIES
Mrs. Warnick is in her 3rd year as the Music Teacher at St. Patrick School after taking a break from teaching in a public school to stay at home with her children. She has also been the Band Director for the past 5 years and loves sharing her passion for music. She sings with the 5:00 PM Mass choir at St. Patrick’s Church. She graduated from Towson University with her Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education. Three of her four children are students at St. Patrick’s from 2nd-7th Grade.
Mrs. Engel has been teaching at St. Patrick School for 2 years. She graduated from the University of MD with a degree in Fine Arts. For 15 years she had a small business where she did decorative painting and murals. For the past 2 years, she has been selling her artwork online and at art shows.
Heather Wertz is in her 5th year at Saint Patrick School and serves as the Resource Teacher serving all students K-8th. She also teaches Middle school math. Heather hold a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education as well as a Masters Degree in Special Education.
Mrs. Dvorak has directed the Saint Patrick School Library for the past 18 years. She coordinates library classes, volunteers, and maintains/updates the library book and media inventory. Margaret McClay has been an active member of Saint Patrick School and Church since the very beginning. Since 1991 her many positions have included: Secretary, Preschool Aide, Kindergarten Aide, Extended Day Manager, PTO President, as well as teaching in the Religious Education classes. She was married to the late Deacon McClay and has three children, two of which graduated from Saint Patrick. Her daughter Sister Bernadette is a Benedictine of Mary, Queen of Apostles in Missouri. Currently, she has three grandchildren; one is a graduate of our school and the other two will soon follow. In her spare time she likes to power walk with her dog.
Krissy Roberts is a member of our extended day staff. She has been part of extended day staff for a number of years. Extended Day is held in the parish hall until 6:30pm as an after school option for students.

For many years Mr. Duffy has been the maintenance man, morning greeter, and Guardian Angel program coordinator for Saint Patrick School. He has quietly and respectfully provided food baskets, household supplies, and emergency funds for many families in need. Mr. Duffy assists St. Patrick School with just about anything we might need.
Church Music Director
Mr. Ciskanik (Mr. C) has studied music from an early age and began organ lessons at St. Andrew's Chapel in Woodberry Forest, VA. He earned a Bachelor's of Music in Organ Performance at the IU Jacobs School of Music and a Master's Degree in Sacred Music at Notre Dame University. His teachers include Wallace Hornady, Janette Fishell, Jeffrey Smith, Bruce Neswick, and Craig Cramer. Coursework also included music education, keyboard pedagogy, and youth choir training. Before arriving at St. Patrick’s, he worked as Music/Liturgy Director and Teacher at Queen of Peace Parish and School in Mishawaka, Indiana.
